Having switched to port over recent months in the course of abandoning a 20 year Chardonnay habit,I have succeeded in reducing to just one bottle in the week instead of two,and have been sampling the Tesco own brand port varieties in ruby, tawny and special reserve, all of which have been very enjoyable.Thinking of a little of variation, the Cockburns (pronounced Co'Burns I'm told)came into focus on offer, and I cannot recall any previous occasion when an £8 spend gave such happy and pleasant feelings... This lovely drink is absolutely top notch in intensity of flavour and sweetness -just two small glasses and I'm rejoicing in the miracle of my health like never before in a simple tipple. Absolutely gorgeous.
Still the best!
This is such a great value Port. Not just to be saved for the end of big meals, but enjoyed all year round. So delicious!
What have you put in your Special Reserve bottles?
Have been drinking Cockburns for many years and it has always been a good standard 'go to' of the cheaper range. However, I bought two to wash down the cheese at Christmas and was very surprised at the difference that has occurred in the flavour since my previous purchase some months ago. It just felt wrong in the mouth with a strange after-taste. This was the opinion of us all. We discarded that bottle and opened the second only to find the same. One ruined cheese course. What has happened Cockburns?
Fruity with long after taste...a port to be enjoye
A lovely after dinner port that went very well with strong cheese. Universally liked by all eighteen of us at our family pre-Christmas meal. I would buy this again - once I finish the two bottles that weren't finished.
An excellent port
Its worth every penny, the most enjoyable port in the range.
