  • The delicious, wheaty, nutty flavour of this stoneground ancient grain flour works well in all baking.
  • Spelt was widely grown in Roman times and legend has it the Roman army called it their 'marching grain'. We were the first to reintroduce spelt to UK soils and love using spelt flour for lots of different bakes.
  • Organic works with nature and helps protect our planet. Its high standards encourage healthy soil and habitats, so bees, birds, butterflies and other wildlife can flourish. That's why we've been pioneers of organic since 1978.
  • We also love home baking and believe it is a great choice for our health and wellbeing. Not only can you pick the best local and seasonal ingredients and know exactly what goes into your food, it is an enjoyable activity and a great way to treat family and friends.

Organic and safer for health

5 stars

Organic is safer for our health. This is spelt like Romans used to eat. Free from all pesticides, herbicides, fungicides of non organic. Brown breads are denser I find it's better hand made than stuffed in bread machine. Eating processed white flours is bad for health. As is non organic. Ready made breads have ingredients that are full of bad for health and are not PURE flour either they bulk them with soya rice E numbers they aren't natural and pure etc Better for your kids homemade bread and rolls and ORGANIC for purity. We are what we eat and what we eat takes a toll on health eventually. Brown flours are an acquired taste but there's ways to make them taste better. I've tried this with chopped tomatoes and fresh basil very tasty. I've made one with bananas ground mixed spice, ginger and cinnamon and raisins also very tasty. use whole bunch bananas mash and add. I like it also with rosemary. It's tasty with chives and onions grilled. It's delicious with grilled onions. If you add WET stuff like tomatoes bananas you get moister bread too. I hand bake mine takes no time sieve from a height it's fluffier. Then add your yeast packet mix. I do fat free salt free for health but you can add those. Then add what you want to try with it. once you mix that in with knife add your warm water. Until it forms a dough then use your hands. Knead it really good, it puts air in, makes it fluffier. Knead on shelf or in bowl I use big bowl. Then wet a tea towel sit in warm room let rise. I do double rising so once risen again. knead it again then cover again makes it airier. For people with cancer this and rye are safe homemade options without oil and without salt and without sugar. I had end stage four I healed all naturally I used this bread whilst healing for safety as can't eat ready made loaves. Taste is fine if you spruce it up with different things. Tomatoes makes it delicious moist with basil or rosemary.

nice tasting 100% wholemeal bread

5 stars

Love it. Makes super bread in my bread machine. 100% Spelt bread, no additives or preservatives. Doesn't rise too high like white or mixed grain loafs, but makes a nice healthy tasting bread to go with vegan cheese or some sliced fruits.
