A serious port for good money
Okay, first of all, you need to realise this is a proper vintage port and will require decanting and left to breathe in the decanter for a few hours. Second, the cork is much more of a challenge than most of the corks you will encounter. You really need a sommelier's opener and not a butterfly type corkscrew, or you risk the cork splitting. Once you get past this minor inconveniences, you will be rewarded with the fantastic experience of drinking a glass of a Dow's vintage port. Powerful bramble, damson and cinnamon spice, followed by and a long peppery and slightly drier finish than most ports await you. Highly recommended as with a single quinta vintage port gives you 99% of the experience of a general declaration year port, at a fraction of the price. The 2004 vintage is ready for drinking now and that's another advantage to single quinta port, they mature at a faster rate. I just wish it didn't disappear from the glass so quickly!
