For a century and a half, discerning bakers have enjoyed making bread, cakes and pastry using flour from Laxey Glen Mills in the Isle of Man.At Laxey Glen Mills the importance of maintaining a constant supply of high quality flour has never been overlooked. Today a small dedicated team of millers continues the tradition, ensuring a ready supply of Manx milled flour fills kitchen cupboards and pantries across the Island come rain or shine. Our customers value the purity of our flour which is free from the additives* required under UK regulations.*Under bread and flour regulations (1998). UK mills are required to add chalk, iron, thiamine and nicotinic acid to flour.Laxey Glen Mills was founded in 1860 by Captain Richard Rowe, a Cornish businessman. He was manager of the adjacent Great Laxey Mine, famous for the 'Lady Isabella', or Great Laxey Wheel, the worlds largest working water wheel. Our Mill retains the Rowe family crest: a lamb and flag - a symbol indicating purity in the Cornish tin industry and the perfect logo for our 100% additive-free flour. The Mill is accredited by SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) and is a member of NABIM (the National Association of British and Irish Flour Millers), ensuring our facility meets retailers requirements and our processes meet rigorous industry standards. As much love and care goes into making our flour as it did when Captain Rowe founded our Mill and we hope you continue to enjoy our products. We never compromise on quality. Only the finest wheat makes it into our flour and we buy every grain we can from growers on the Isle of Man. To meet demand, sometimes we have to find extra wheat, and we work hard to source this as locally as possible - and always additive free. That's what makes Laxey Flour so special. Perfectly Pure since 1860.
