Description

Dried buckwheat.

Makes a great warm salad or great baked into nut roasts

Hob:

Time:30 minutes

Instructions:Rinse 100g buckwheat thoroughly in cold water.
Bring 500ml water or stock to the boil in a large saucepan on the medium hob
ring over a high heat, add the buckwheat.
Stir, cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes until
most of the water has been absorbed.
Remove from the heat, drain off any excess water and stand for 10 minutes.
Separate the grains with a fork and use as required.

Sage & Onion Buckwheat Stuffing

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:
15g unsalted butter
1 large onion, diced
100g Tesco Buckwheat
200ml water, boiling
1 vegetable stock cube, crumbled
2 tsp dried sage
2 tsp dried parsley
¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

Method:
1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over a low heat, add the onion and cook
for 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
2. Stir in the buckwheat, water and the crumbled stock cube. Increase the heat
to medium and bring to the boil.
3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, until the water has been
absorbed.
4. Stir in the sage, parsley and pepper and cook for a further 1 minute.
5. Remove from the heat and allow to stand for 5 minutes before serving.

To Serve:
Ideal as an accompaniment to all roast meats, poultry and fish.
