Over the past few decades Sauvignon Blanc has achieved superstar status on the world stage, yet the beautiful Loire Valley in France remains its spiritual home, and Sancerre is the region’s most famous wine- With its enticing white-blossom fragrance and thirst-quenching citrus flavours, not only is this a terrific example of Sancerre, but it’s also fantastic value for money.
This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 1 year
Maison Jean Claude Fromont have over 50 years experience in the wine business and own over 80 hectares of vines. Nowadays Maison Jena Claude Fromont have an impressive portfolio of appellations all over Burgundy, the Rhone and the Loire.
Jean Claude Fromont
Sancerre is renowned for its peak overlooking the Loire and its vineyards, which spread over the surrounding hills. The vineyards of Sancerre spread across 15 villages, their soil is largely chalky and stony. Combined with the cool climate, this makes them an ideal environment for growing the Sauvignon Blanc grape and making wines which have a distinct minerality and are long lived.

This wine has a delicate initial bouquet, mostly herbal note. It is very pale yellow in colour, not at all orange. The flavour is herbal with a slight sourish gooseberry tang. The finish is acid and there is a lingering mineral, perhaps flinty, bass note. We are losing our liking for Champagne and this wine is our favourite for Christmas and birthdays.

I have had many bottles of Sancerre over the years but very disappointed with this one. Tasted like a very cheap white wine. I expect more of a Sancerre

I found the wine to be lacking in flavour. I'll leave it for 12 months and hope it develops.

Always partial to a Loire white and this didn't disappoint, crisp refreshing with food or as an aperitif would definately recommend always have one cold in the fridge.

Very fruity. An essence of gooseberry flavour and interesting dab of lemon sparkle.

Looking for something crisp dry and not New Zealand Sauvignon. A true classic.

This is an excellent example of a Sancerre, we loved this so much we opened bottle number 2 and are struggling in keeping the others for Christmas . Will definitely be buying more

Delightful fresh Sancerre with citrus notes but a good winey aftertaste. Very good value and a refreshhing change from my usual Chablis. Delicious with seafood.Terry

While New World Sauvignon Blanc are all the rage, you can't beat an original and this Sancerre certainly doesn't disappoint! Very good monetary value for this grape variety with an excellent combination of citrus fruits. Sit back with a glass, close your eyes and you are sipping on the banks of the Liore.

To date I have only tried one of the bottles from the case I purchased. I found there was little flavour and not up to the usual standard of Sancerre which I usually really enjoy.

I normally buy New World Sauvignon Blanc, but thought I would try this when it came up on special. I was not disappointed, more subtle then a New Zealand Sauv, it had a freshness about it which I really liked. I Would buy it again.

I purchased this Sancerre recently for the first time and have to say I am really enjoying the depth of flavour and freshness. I would definitely buy again.

I don't often buy Sancerre for reasons of cost, but this was very keenly priced at £8 per bottle so I bought 12! I don't mind slightly acidic wines as opposed to the buttery taste of say Chardonnay and was looking forward to the tang a good Sancerre leaves on the palate, but this one left that mildly sour metallic after taste, usually experienced with a low quality cheap wine. I would certainly not buy this particular Sancerre again and suspect, rather than persevering with it, I will be giving away bottles to less favoured acquaintances for Christmas!

This is my favourite White and this particular Sancerre proved to be one of the best I've tasted. Very fresh and full of citrus flavours. although a drink for summer, I can drink this all year round.

Sancerre feuille de Vigne is my favourite wine, however very disappointed that out of 1 box 2 had corked, they tasted terrible. I'm hoping the other box is ok!

A very crisp wine with a clean taste described as a dry but comes up as unique with none of that dryness, perfect for those special occasions.

I would expect to pay more for a Sancerre and I thought this was pretty good for the price - it was on offer though.

Rather disappointing wine which lacked the clarity of taste you would normally expect from a good Sancerre. This vintage was over acidic and actually left a rather unpleasant after taste. Hints of the vibrant flavours were present, but only briefly, as the sour gooseberry tang took over.

I suppose you tend to get what you pay for. This wine is past its best. It does not have the vibrancy and frutiy clout that you expect from the grape. Drinkable, especially at a party, but not my favourite wine. I picked wine grapes in the Sancerre region and this lets down the regions wines.

A classy crisp French white - like coming home after a long spell away on Malborough Sauvignons! Not a cheap one, but a good buy.
