Cava Brut - White Spanish Wine

Codorniu Brut, a faithful reflection of the first cava created by Codorníu in 1872 which still maintains its original blend of the three traditional cava grape varieties: Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada.
Cava is made according to the Traditional Method. The second fermentation, to produce bubbles and the unique flavour, takes place in this bottle. A fresh, crisp and elegant sparkling wine with attractive flavours of citrus and apple with fine, persistent bubbles.

Vinification Details:

This sparkling wine is made in the traditional method, in the same way as Champagne, with a secondary fermentation in the bottle. This gives the wine depth of flavour, elegance and long-lasting, fine bubbles. Codorníu Brut is made from a special blend of the classic cava grapes: Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada.

In 1551, Jaume Codorníu began making still wines in Penedès, Spain. In 1872, having studied the ‘traditional method' of sparkling wine production in Champagne, Josep Raventós, a descendant of Codorníu, applied the technique to the traditional Penedès grape varieties of Macabeo, Parellada & Xarel.lo and created the first bottle of Cava.

Regional Information:

Grapes used in the production of Codorníu Brut are sourced mainly from the area with the most Mediterranean climate in D.O. Cava, where local varieties exhibit their authentic character.
