Tasting Notes

A outstanding example of top-notch Bordeaux at an amazingly good value price, this wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a touch of Petit Verdot; It has an beautiful aroma of black fruit and tobacco; To drink it is velvety smooth, packed with flavours of blackcurrant and cedary oak, with a finish that seems to linger forever. Excellent with red meat and rich cheeses such as Brie or Roquefort

Background

History

The 50-hectare estate of Château Brown has enjoyed a long heritage of fine wine-making; It has gone from strength to strength in recent years under the ownership of the Mau family and the involvement of the famous Stephane Derenoncourt as consultant winemaker. Its 58 acres of vineyards are devoted to the the classic Bordeaux red grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot; Château Brown wines have received many wine awards and accolades across several vintages

Regional info

Pessac-Léognan, one of the oldest winemaking regions of Bordeaux, lies on the left bank of the Garonne just south of the city of Bordeaux itself. It is famous for its "gravelly" soil - In fact the word "Graves" (the name for the wider region of which it is part) means "gravel" in French. As with the Medoc appellations to the north, Cabernet Sauvignon tends to be the predominent grape but the wines here often also have a higher proportion of Merlot in the blend. The wines of Pessac Leognan are typically characterised by their tobacco-like aroma and earthy flavours
