Delightfully crisp and fruity, this fabulous sparkling rosado is scented with berry fruits and has a lovely, sweet aftertaste.
Made from black grapes, it spends a short time in contact with the dark skins to produce its wonderful pink colour.

The award-winning Elyssia range from Freixenet takes the best Cava traditions and combines them with a bold, modern approach to winemaking with spectacular results
Matthew Jukes - Weekend (Daily Mail) 11/02/2012“The wild strawberry, rose scent and stylish, silky palate of this magical wine will entrance your senses. It’s guaranteed to work wonders if you pour it for your loved one too. Beautifully packaged and worth every penny.”
David Williams - The Observer Magazine 10/02/2013"Restaurants and retailers seem to enter into a pact about Valentine's drinking: they all offer pink fizz. If, like me your wallet has barely recovered from the beating it took at Christmas, it's hard to justify the outlay on rose Champagne. But this refined, strawberry-scented pinot noir, made in the same way as Champagne by the Catalan cava giant Freixenet, is a decent alternative at a very reasonable price."
Jamie Goode - S Magazine, Sunday Express 07/04/2013“Most cava is inexpensive but here’s a pricey pink version that delivers exuberant cherry and berry fruits, with a subtle herby edge. This is stylish stuff.”
Based in Catalonia, northeast Spain, and founded in the 19th century, Freixenet remains a family business. With winery estates worldwide, Freixenet has grown to become one of the world's leading producers of both still and sparkling wine. Penedès in Catalonia is the largest and most important sparkling wine region. It is split into 3 zones ranging in altitude from 250m to 800m above sea level, each with a distinct climate.
Gabriel Suberviola
The Pinot Noir grapes are grown at the Mas Bernich vineyard at Masquefa in the High Penedès, on sandy-clay soil. The Trepat grapes are grown on chalky soils low in organic matter. The Pinot Noir vines are wire trained and Double Cordon-Royat pruned. They are pruned down to 27,000 bunches per hectare, in order to limit the yield to 6,500kg per hectare.

This Cava was as expected, a dry wine with a sparkle on the palate. It was fruity with a touch of lemon. I do not normally drink sparkling wine so this will tempt me to try others from the Tesco range. Certainly this will stay on the shopping list.

We Purchased this wine last Christmas, when we received the wine magazine again this year, we were delighted to see the wine featured again. As we had Tesco vouchers it seemed a shame not to treat ourselves this Christmas......!
