A ruby red colour wine with garnet reflections, spicy with hints of vanilla and red and black cherries, very smooth and well-rounded with plumy fruit and beautifully integrated sweet tannins.

This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 3 years
Terry Kirby - The Independent on Sunday 18/12/2011A fantastic bargain offer on a wine ideal as an all-purpose bottle for seasonal gatherings or buffet spreads but which would be a fine match for any kind of roast. Made with the underrated Corvina grape in the Veneto region, this has warming flavours of dried fruits, cherries, plums, touches of vanilla and sweet tannins.
During the Middle Ages, the name Veriacus was linked to the Negrar Valley and to this day the vineyards of the Jago hillside produce wines of incomparable depth and personality. Verjago is a Valpolicella where the elegance and warmth typical of this wine, and much appreciated over the centuries, find their true expression. This wine is the fruit of an extensive quality project carried out by the Cantina over a number of years. This has led to the identification of the best microclimates and “terroirs” within the Negrar Valley. The grapes have been carefully selected from hillside vineyards and hand picked into small crates. They are then left to rest for 40 days in temperature-controlled rooms before vinification. The wine is matured for more then 1 year in large oak casks and then for 3 months in bottle. The final result is a superb Valpolicella of great distinction: a fine ambassador for its terroir.

I'm not a wine buff but I know what I like and this wine hits the mark.Deep, dark and velvety smooth,my husband and I enjoyed a glass or two with a wedge of parmigiano on our patio in a rare day of sunshine.Needless to say we finished the bottle and opened another! My favourite wine from Tesco so far.

On drawing the cork and smelling the wine you can sense the dense and dark intensity and succulent character of the Rondinella and Corvina grapes. There were intense earthy aromas and large amounts of mature fragrant juicy berry fruits with an overlay of spice. It finished long with a smooth velvety texture on the palate. The soft tannins made this a very sexy wine giving great warmth. It is a wine that elicited a spontaneous "mmmm" from us both. Le Preare Lastone fights very hard above its own weight and this exceptional wine should be viewed as comparable to the highly coveted and respected fine wine of Amarone

I decided to buy this wine as I am familiar with cantina di negrar's valpollicella which I have enjoyed over the years. This wine did not disappoint and is excellent value on offer. Taste of black cherries on the palate with a reasonably long finish, this wine goes really well with tomato based pasta dishes

Had this for about a week now. After giving it a rest of a couple of days following delivery, the first taste it is a really classy red both on the palate and the eye. It is still young but has the structure to enjoy decanting. I suspect it will be even better after 6 to 12 months or even more.

I bought this wine just to try it, it was billed as a 2009 but when I got it it was a 2011 I felt cheated so got on to Tesco to complain. while waiting for a response I opened a bottle. this was where I got a huge SURPRISE this wine was fabulous on so many levels I could not believe it I drink amarone and brunello quite a lot although it does not have the same body as these it was nearly as good. needless to say I did not send it back
