We got a mixed case of Jacktone red wine to sample the Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon & Pinot Noir and found all three quite pleasant however, the Pinot Noir stood out - A light wine bursting with fruity flavours for us is the nicest from the Jacktone Ranch red wine range however, we have yet to try other flavours but have no dount they will be as pleasant as the rest but doubt they could match the flavours of the Pinot Noir.

I bought this in the Jacktone ranch mixed case. All I could detect on the nose was maple syrup. This continued into the palate which I suppose is the "sweet juicy plums" but personally, I couldn't get much fruit. Virtually tannin free, this is easy drinking but best drunk soon.

An unpleasant after taste. I'll be using this wine for cooking.

This is a lovely smooth velvety wine that is great on it's own but also good with red meat, tomato based pasta etc. I like to keep a few bottles in the house as in my opinion it never disappoints. It is a very inoffensive wine that all of my friends seem to enjoy - even those who usually make a point of buying French.

My husband is the red wine drinker and Pinot noir is one of his favourites. I bought this on offer and was delighted with it.

Very drinkable Pinot noir at this price. More body than you would normally expect in a Californian Pinot but still very nice.

If you like Pinot Noir then you will love this, it is probably the best Pinot offered by Tesco in my humble opinion. I have tried all the regions (at the excellent Tesco Wine fair in Manchester) and California seems to do it best... give it a go and you may be converted.

As has already been stated, you shouldn't expect overly Burgundian characteristics in an American pinot noir, but if I had been presented with this blind, I'd never have said PN in a million years., Even knowing what it is, I struggle to detected any PN characteristics in this wine. Another reviewer suggested that there may rather less than 100% PN in this wine and I can see their point. Otherwise, pleasant enough stuff.

Although for me this is not a typical Pinot Noir it is still a total winner. Soft and velvety with more body than I would usually expect from a Pinot. However it is a delight, very easily drinkable, as are all the jacktone reds.

If you're expecting a light pale Pinot Noir you would be surprised by the full, dark ruby colour of this young Californian. It certainly packs more punch than a Burgundy, but as with most good Californian wines the flavour isn't retiring or shy. If you are expecting a 'traditional' Pinot Noir then this will not be for you, but if you want a good glass of red at a good price (and when it's on offer it's a really good price) you won't be disappointed.

Californian reds which we had previously bought seemed overpriced, so we took a bit of a chance buying this one. We found it very pleasant, especially with steak. The tasting description by the vendors were accurate, and at this price we will certainly buy it again.

Very flabby for a Pinot. Not bad as such, just not very good either...........

An excellent wine, a lovely fruity flavour. It has a very smooth and refined taste, not too dry. Best of all is the price, on offer at £5.50 a bottle (£33 for a case) a real bargain.

At under £6 a bottle you really can't beat this very good Pinot Noir. It has all the typicity of the grape and quite a lot of style. Easy drinking.

pinot noirs are usually mixed as they are quite a weak grape with a subtle flavour off of their own. This one has been mixed too much and Pinot Noir hardly gets a look in.

I always buy Jacktone Ranch wines as the quality is excellent and the consistency never lets me down. But this is the first time I tried their Pinot Noir ( it was on special offer and I couldn't resist) . I was delighted and it has immediately become a firm favourite with the rest of the family .

After a typically lousy day at the office this wine is bouncy, juicy, smooth and eminently perky. Wine that gives you a hug and makes you smile. Happy wine.

Not quite the pinot noir taste one would expect having just finished a case of New Zealand wine of the same grape, but what you would expect if the product costs around £5-6 a bottle. Cherries and plums? No....possibly you will taste something akin to roasted cranberries, but the description of this wine is all wrong - it is far from soft or velvety, but for this kind of finish you would need to double the price. It is a reasonable everyday wine, nothing spectacular and not for a dinner party, but sat in front of the tv watching a film, is about where this wine is.

I normally quaff heavy reds, but I decided to try this Pinot Noir as it was on offer. I have been pleasantly surprised and am enjoying this 'new to me' wine... I expect there will be further purchases of this particular grape.

After a recent trip to California I discovered a new found love for Pinot Noir. This one is smooth, easy to drink and tastes delicious. Great price for a Saturday night drink in front of the fire!

The elusive Pinot Noir assumes a different character in the New World...more upfront than its expensive Burgundy relative, and perhaps not as subtle, but bearing in mind that you would have to spend vastly more to get a French Pinot Noir of this quality makes this is an absolute bargain. A very soft texture and a taste of blackcurrant that reminds you of midsummer make this a must buy.Earlier vintages were a little heavy on the alcohol coming in at 14.5 but at 13.5 though not exactly quaffable if you want the dinner party conversation to remain lucid, is a perfect accompaniment to roast lamb....or on it's own around the fire on a cold winter night. This outstanding vineyard also produces several other superb wines....notably the Viognier which would give many Northern Rhone vineyards a run for their money.

Whenever you pick up a wine bottle with the Jacktone Ranch label you know you are in for a treat; I have not been disappointed to date. This Pinot Noir is soft, rich and fruity. In my opinion it is an excellent accommpanyment for roast lamb.
