Icing Sugar, Dried Egg White, Anti-Caking Agent: Tricalcium Phosphate (E341)

  • Icing sugar can absorb flavours and odours, so store the closed pack away from strong smelling or flavoured foods.
  • For best before end see back of pack.

Recipes:

Royal Icing
Creates a smooth finish for sponge cakes, cupcakes, biscuits and finger buns.

Method
Accurately measure 80ml of cold water into a deep bowl.
Tip the 500g pack of Royal Icing into a bowl.
Use an electric mixer (not a food processor) starting slowly then gradually increase to a high speed and beat for approximately five minutes. A wooden spoon can be used by you will have to beat for longer.
When the icing stands in soft peaks it is ready to use. At no time allow the icing to become too stiff and heavy. If the icing is too soft, beat in a little Silver Spoon Icing Sugar, a teaspoon at a time. A few drops of water will thin the icing if too stiff.
Apply all the icing in a thick layer, smooth with a palette knife.
For alternative finishes: peak using a teaspoon handle or swirl in waves using a palette knife or add piped decoration.
Store any left over icing in an airtight container.
Lightly beat before use.
One pack is sufficient to ice a 20cm (8 in) marzipanned round cake.

Why not try..
..For a softer icing, add 1 tsp of glycerine after the sugar to prevent the icing becoming brittle.
