Vinification Details

The grapes were 100% handpicked and very carefully sorted. This was followed by three weeks of fermentation and maceration in concrete vats at a low temperature to produce a wine that is elegant and aromatic. A blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre, the plots were vinified separately and blended together to ensure a perfectly balanced wine was achieved representative of the region.

History

In 1999, Baptiste Grangeon joined forces with his father, passionate about viticulture and expanding his domaine. Based on the knowledge and respect of his soils in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Baptiste earned a reputation supporting the best growers who treated the vineyards as naturally as possible in accordance with the criteria of organic agriculture. The priorities were to concentrate on selecting the best parcels in order to produce wines of great quality, with a good ageing potential.

Regional Information

To create this Gigondas, only the best parcels were selected from the hills of Southern Rhône, on the border of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The terroirs are mainly sandy-clay, producing wines that would rival Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Various altitudes in the region offer varying ripeness levels and fruit characters. Reflected in the quality is the fruit of the work of owners-harvesters sharing each others philosophy of the love of vine and wine.
