Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Balvenie is one of the worlds most loved Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. A multi award winning distillery it is famous for being the most hand crafted Single Malt Whisky in Scotland. Characterised by a gentle honey sweetness and flavour complexity, The Balvenie is the last distillery to retain all the traditional crafts of whisky production. From barley farmed at Balvenie Mains to casks maintained by our own coopers, every element of the production process is valued for the unique qualities it brings to the finished Single Malt Whisky.

Single malt Scotch Whisky

The Balvanie Doublewood acquires its complex yet rich and smooth taste from its maturation in two different types of oak cask, carefully selected by our award-wining Malt Master, David Stewart.

The Balvenie Distillery remains totally dedicated to the traditions, care and craftsmanship of malt whisky making and has been owned and managed by the same Independent family company for five generations.

The Maltman's Shiel is still an integral part of our malting process. It is used by our four maltmen for turning grain on the floor of the malt barn. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, that still malts in its own traditional floor maltings, that still has coopers to tend all the casks and a coppersmith to tend the stills.

From this Distillery comes The Balvenie Doublewood characterised by rich honey sweetness and a delicate of sherry.

Unlike most distilleries, The Balvenie still uses traditional methods in the productions of their whisky.
The barley used is grown by the distillery on their land, and the water used is from the pure natural springs in the Conval Hills. The Balvenie Distillery is the only Speyside Distillery to have its own floor maltings, thus reinforcing its links with traditional methods of Scotch Whisky production.
The Balvenie employ their own coppersmith to tend to the stills and coopers to look after the casks, so The Balvenie employees have the wisdom of experience when making the whisky.
