Leeds United On This Day chronicles the fascinating history of Leeds United for each and every date of the year. Ever since they were established from the financial ruins of disbanded Leeds City in 1919, the Elland Road club has put its fans through the emotional mixer like no other side. From the dizzying highs of the Revie glory days to the depressing lows of relegation and financial implosion, all of the moments that make supporting Leeds United the rollercoaster ride that the Elland Road faithful can't live without are featured in this book. Leeds legends such as Billy Bremner, Jack Charlton, Peter Lorimer, Eddie Gray, Gordon Strachan and Lucas Radebe, to name but a few, all take centre stage, as the book features all the title wins, cup successes, European adventures, major transfers and boardroom struggles from United s history.

Author's Biography

Joe Mewis is a freelance football journalist and lifelong Leeds United fan. Growing up in Harrogate, he watched his first game at Elland Road as an eight-year-old on a cold spring night in 1990 as Leeds lost to Barnsley in their only home defeat of the season. Undeterred, young Joe immediately bounced back from this as it proved to be a useful lesson in how to cope with other subsequent nadirs such as the cup final losses, relegation, administration and point deductions that have followed. Oh, they've won the odd game since then as well. After graduating from Lancaster University, Joe moved back to Leeds and combines working in marketing with football journalism, writing for a number of local publications including Leeds United fanzine The Square Ball. Joe also regularly appears on Yorkshire Radio and is the co-creator of football history website www.onthisfootballday.com. He has also written Football On This Day, England On This Day and Leeds United Miscellany.
