Our deep red Isla Negra Reserva Merlot is packed with aromatic intensity of plums and cassis with a hint of chocolate on the finish

This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 3 years
Isla Negra is a very special place for Chilean culture and arts; it is a mystical coastal town which has inspired the creativity of many artists. For us, the magic of Isla Negra expresses itself in the ancient art of winemaking: our wines find their inspiration in this enchanting land, capturing its mysticism in a bottle. Isla Negra Reserva range was created with the vision of delivering a high-quality fruit driven style. Reserva range represents affordable, yet high quality wines.
Cecilia Padilla
The grapes are carefully selected from prime spots across Chile's Central Valley

Not a great wine. Lacks flavour and depth. Also has a bitterness to it which isn't pleasant. Not sure why its so highly rated. Perhaps because its under £5. If you want to buy it under £5, suggest you use it for adding to food rather than a wine to drink on its own

Nobody is going to dislike this wine. Approachably soft and smooth with a hint of tannic body behid giving it a chocolaty complexity. Enjoyable at the time but immemorable.

I cannot drink red wine -but I served this one to my guests and they loved it ! It seems to go well with food although on another occasion it was 'quaffed' with savouries....

Whilst this wine won't blow you away, it is a great one to have in your wine rack to pull out when you want an easy drinker. A smooth rounded red which is better than you would expect for the price. I wouldn't take it to a fancy dinner party, but I would definitely share it with a friend over a good chat or summer BBQ.

One cannot go wrong on this wine, it is smooth beautifully rounded, intense flavour and worth every penny. Will buy again and would recommend. The merlot grape is a fine grape that produces a very smooth bouquet and one just wants another glass!

This wine is an old favourite I have it loved for a long time. I first bought one bottle that was on special offer at Tesco, and I have never been without it since. It is great with red or white meats also with cheese, and is also a good social wine.

At half price this wine is excellent value and a good everyday quaffing wine. However I don't think the full price of £10 is justified.

I first drank this wine in peru 1998 and when i saw it on the shelf a few years back I had no problem in buying it, its a very full bodied merlot and has a very fruity flavour, great with meat and pasta dishes, i recommend this wine

A nice smooth wine equally good to drink by itself or with food. Is very reasonably priced and I have bought it several times in the past and will definately buy it again.

Good value when on offer, needs to be left to breath if you are having it without food. Fruity, but not (in my opinion) the smoothest of merlots.

I like full bodied red wine and find this has plenty of taste, but isn't bitter like some red wines can be.

Isla Negra used to be excellent quality ,alas the quality has deteriorated over the years. I'm not saying that it's undrinkable. It's just not as good as before.

We've been drinking Isla Negra for years and it's always been a favourite of ours. Medium bodied with no sharp after tastes. Great for an every day drinker if you can get it at the right price, around the £5 mark. Some Isla Negra's are priced £8 o r£9....way too much.

I have bought several, usually budget wines from Tesco, and have never been disappointed. I would not profess to be any sort of "buff", but I have always been satisfied with the product.

Purchased because of the reviews and also being 50% off. For a Merlot, especially a Chilean Merlot, this was awful. Sour grapes is the best way of describing it. It was left to breathe for 8 hours and still it was no good As someone has already pointed out it is fit for cooking with and that's about it - not even sure I would use it for cooking. I think I may have just got a bad case but am returning it for a refund. The Isla Negra Cabernet Sauvignon is much better

Bought a case of this as it was on offer and the reviews were positive. I'm very impressed - went down well over Christmas (with and without food). The only downside: two days after placing my order, a further pound was knocked off the price!

Both my husband and I like this merlot though we usually like very different red wines. I like fruity and full flavoured whereas he likes a heavier more oaky wine. Great value at half price-a definite bonus!

I have been a wine drinker over many years! The reason I choose Isla Negra is that it is full bodied and as they say 'it is what it says on the bottle' . I willl continue to buy this beautiful wine as it suits my taste buds. If you havn't already done so please try it.

This Isla Negra Merlot Reserva from Tesco has amazing taste and is incredible value for money. The strength within its individual flavours is so good it can be used as a dinner wine, a desert wine or sweetened with lemmonade to use as a general alcoholic drink. Very moorish.

We drink a lot of red wine and in particular of the merlot grape variety. This example has an excellent bouquet and plummy flavour and must be one of the best at this reasonable price level. It is ideal with any meat dish but could equally accompany any vegetarian meal. I would thoroughly recommend this as a great wine at an affordable price.

Another everyday red but the Merlot grape is soft and fruity. A very good buy. We have purchased it several times and enjoy it with casseroles and roasts although we have also drunk it with fish! It goes quite well with some cheeses as well because of its gentle, fruity character and would certainly be fine with pasta. Another inexpensive and very acceptable buy especially when its on offer!

I have purchased Isla Negra on several previous occasions and have never been disappointed. I have found it to be a most satisfying wine, especially with meats. I have recommended the wine to several of my friends who have very well satisfied. I wil continue to purchase Isla Negra in the future.

Great combination of Chilean high quality red wine production with the classic smoothness of the Merlot grape. One of the finest examples so ideal for lovers of 100% Merlot wine especially at this entry price. Easy drinking and complements most foods or just for having on it's own.

This wine has always been good even though the price has increased a lot in recent years. It is fruity and chewy with fine tannins......it seems to go with almost any red meat or stew and is a steal when on offer.
