Tasting Notes

Love Prosecco? Fancy trying something similar but just a bit different? Pignoletto is the answer.

That's the name of the grape and it's made in the Emilia-Romagna region, in northern Italy.

Popping with peach and pear flavours, with soft, frothy bubbles to boot.

Brilliant party fizz.

Expert Opinion

What our expert says

If you love Prosecco, you’ll love this! It has all the lovely froth and fizz required, with fresh apple and pear flavours to boot. This is made from the little-known Pignoletto grape, whereas Prosecco is made from Glera. And it comes from a slightly different area too. It is from Emilia-Romagna between Modena and Bologna – not far south of where Prosecco comes from, actually. This needs nothing more than friends and a few well-placed bowls of nibbles. In the press...

"Grown between Modena and Bologna, this fruity fizz is like a million tiny party balloons lifting your spirits with every sip."

Olly Smith - Event Magazine, Mail on Sunday 11/01/2015

In 1950, a group of 9 wine producers from the Province of Reggio Emilia joined together to form the Cantine Cooperative Riunite. 11 years later, 4 wineries from the Province of Modena followed their lead and founded the Consorzio Interprovinciale Vini (CIV). The two organizations grew thanks to cooperation between their members. At the start of the new century, they felt that the time had come to unite in a single association in order to meet the requirements of the market in an increasingly comprehensive and efficient manner. Cantine Riunite & CIV now has 2,000 members and 3,700 hectares of vineyards. This large, internationally renowned group sets the benchmark for Italian cooperation and flies the flag for the country's qualities all over the world
