Monistrol is one of the leading Cava producers having established cava making at the property in San Sadurni d'Anoia in 1882, in the heart of Penedès, 40km south west from Barcelona. Since then quality has been the byword in the production of some of the best sparkling wines from Spain. Since 1882 our cavas are produced following the traditional method (same production method as champagne). Every year our cavas win international awards for their outstanding quality.
Berberana is now no longer just Rioja, Berberana is Spain. Expanding from our home in Rioja Alta, we started producing wines from Vino de la Tierra de Castilla and D.O. Catalunya. In late 2013 we merged brands with one of the largest Cava producers in Spain, moving all wines from the Marques de Monistrol brand name to Monistrol by Berberana.
