Description

A fleet-class destroyer in which 175 ships of the same type were made in the United States Navy during World War II. It was built over the years, deployed to the Pacific Fleet and the Atlantic Fleet as the main destroyers of the US Navy, and contributed to the victory of the Allied Forces. DD797 Cushing was commissioned in 1944 by one such Fletcher-class ship.
