Really cynical pricing. Not impressed
I am really disappointed with the way these have been priced. I know that actual, real lamb is a lot more expensive than beef, which is in turn more expensive than chicken, but there is absolutely zero reason why the price of these meat alternatives should reflect that. All three products are basically the same, with only very slight variations in ingredients, mostly down to the seasoning and colours. There is no good reason at all for the lamb package to be so much more expensive than the chicken one, and then as there is quite a bit less actual product in the box, the price per kilo is dramatically different. There is a good reason for different meats being different prices - it comes down to farming methods, animal size, age at which the animal is slaughtered etc. For a vegetarian alternative to be so varied in price is ridiculous and I am really annoyed by it!
Fabulous lamb pieces & no lambs are harmed :)
Fantastic quality. I used to use lamb neck fillet for Eastern Lamb and curries - you cannot taste the difference with ALT. Easy to cook, great texture. Fabulous alternative and no lambs harmed!
Worst thing ive ever eaten.
As a vegetarian of 3 years im always trying new products, we purchased 2 packs of this to do as a roast dinner, fully followed the cooking instructions, served up, took one bite and immediately had to spit it out. Ive never tasted anything so vile ever, it smells as bad as it tastes. It is a mixture of what i can only describe as rubber and cardboard. Even our 3 dogs refused to eat it. Ive contacted the producer of this. Will never purchase from this range again.
Very tasty & good texture
We've been attempting to reduce our meat consumption so have tried out lots of different meat free substitutes. They vary wildly and many don't have a nice texture or have an odd after taste but I loved this one! Absolutely delightful- have also used very successfully in a moussaka. It's a touch expensive but I'm sure the prices of these things will come down with increasing demand. Will be buying again.
I had these in a curry and they were delicious. Great texture and taste. I’m not a big fan of fake meats but this one is really good. Trying to cut down my meat consumption so I was pleased I could find such a tasty substitute.
A tasty, convincing substitute
I haven't eaten lamb for a few years but this definitely had the taste & feel if it. We fry it & have it on a roast dinner, it's delicious with gravy & mint sauce.
Amazing! Lovely fried until golden and then serve
Amazing! Lovely fried until golden and then served with a sauce - best range we have tried!
Was like eating rolled up newspaper
It was like eating rolled up kitchen paper / blue roll. or rolled up newspaper, flavour was ok ish but no no no to the texture, it was SOO dry.
Not perfect but nonetheless exceeded expectations.
If you cook the product according to the instructions on the back of the packet (i.e. caramelise it in the pan with some oil before adding in a bit of water), the texture of the product is lovely and quite convincing, quite unlike a lot of other meat substitutes which are chewy and horrible. The flavour is 75% of the way there, definitely lamb-like and really nice, but I prefer this to actual lamb on the basis that it isn't gristly at all, and the price per kg is very reasonable compared to actual lamb when considering that there is no bone or fat. Overall, very good!
I’ve tried a lot of different meat alternatives and these are amazing. Can’t recommend enough
