Wonderful, REAL bread.
What a joy to discover this read. I spent a lot of time in Germany and Scandinavia and really miss good rye bread. Don't expect the fluffy steam baked kind. It is not a substitute. It's a different bread altogether. It's dense/heavy in comparison, but ohh.... the flavour. Great for Scandinavian style open sandwiches especially with Polish smoked pork sausage and smoked cheese. Please, please, please keep it on the shelves.
The Half Wheat Half Rye version is much better!
The other one is amazing but this version is tiny... You can put two slices in one side of a toaster and still have room lol. It doesn't seem to toast either as I had it on 5, then 1, then 1 again to see if it browned but the bread looks the exact same as before it went in, just warmer and tougher. The other one, called 'The Polish Bakery Half Wheat Half Rye Bread 900G' is amazing though! And bigger! I love that one, it's long and toasts great and the ends are amazing like little crusty cobs, but this sunflower one isn't for me, tiny and tough.
I love this bread. Always keep some in my freezer. Toasts well and is great with spreads on, savoury or sweet. I like its density and flavour.
Mouldy before it's use by date, within 1 day of delivery. Yum!!.... NOT !! :(
Was excited to try this bread as I love Polish bread in general. Unfortunately, on the day when I collected the order, the bread was already past its best before date and all covered in mould!
Packed with goodness
Very dense and packed with sunflower seeds. Lovely on its own or with a slice of cheese. Small slices, not suitable for sandwich making.
