slides down like a dream.....
Oh my word! Money off then MORE money-off if I buy at least 2 cases. Well the first purchase 10 days ago went down so well it had to be 2 cases this time and I think I just paid about £4.80 a bottle. Astonishing! They are giving away pure excelence in one of the best reds I've tasted in ages. Big fruit, tannins but just enough, length, elegance, silky smooth Syrah and slides down like a dream. So 12 for the cellar and 4 left for current drinking with anything that's meaty and rich. Last night it was pan fried duck breast in a red wine and orange sauce with creamy mashed potatoes and finely sliced carrots. It makes you want to cook something special. This wine is so deserving of it!
When poured this was a lovely dark crimson colour which hit the glass with a satisfying glug. Initial aromas of juicy blackberries , a little sweet candy, Chocolate and a distinct smokiness. Taste – Smooth and velvety, rich blackberries/blackcurrant, Chocolate liqueurs along with sweet spice although I was expecting a little more spiciness. Plenty of smoke and wood flavour, mainly sweetness but there was a little tartness on the finish also a little coffee action going on. Didn’t have time to let this open up fully, pretty much drank it straight out of the bottle but for me it would improve even more if left for a while. This really was an impressive wine
This is a fantastic wine. Stunningly complex and intense, with all the character and subtlety great French Syrah should have. At less that £10 per bottle it's outstanding value for such a quality wine. Great to see Tesco listing such an excellent producer as Laurent Miquel.
