Multiple uses
I have no idea how authentic this stuff is, but it was very tasty for me. Stirred into some hummus is so good! Also great as part of a marinade for chicken with the addition of some dry spices, which I grilled. I also made a harrissa yoghurt which was great.
makes a lovely spicy relish
Just goes to show, we are all different - we love the aniseed flavour, it's the best bit - makes a lovely spicy relish to go with halloumi burgers
Not nice
Not nice, tastes artificial
Excellent addition
Really enjoyable paste, distinct flavours that really add to the dish. I used with cous cous and have already bought another.
Overpowering aniseed flavouring.
Wasn’t that impressed with the flavour, very overpowering aniseed flavour bordering on being artificial / chemically not as good as other harissa pastes I’ve had.
The best harissa
My favourite harissa paste, the star anise adds an extra dimension, ignore the negative reviews unless you too can't stand aniseed type flavours
Tasteless
Essentially tasteless, won't ever buy again. The Fiery Harissa (not available from online Tesco yet) is much better for next time you pop in.
Lovely Harissa Paste
Tomato in Harissa paste is not unknown. The aniseed taste is probably the star anise. Whatever is included I think is great and I add it to what I’m cooking if it needs an extra ‘kick’.
Only tastes of anise...
I wish I would have looked at the reviews (sadly not available in the mobile app) as everyone is right, the amount of anise flavour in this harissa absolutely ruins the meal. Any of the other three harissa varieties Tesco offers are better (Rose Harissa [barely tasting of rose], the Tesco brand, and the Providence Fiery Harissa [my favourite, but was out of stock when I ordered this version]).
Gross
Tastes of liquorice and aniseed. Absolutely disgusting.
