Product Description

  • A rich, powerful, sophisticated red with spicy flavours of blackberry, tobacco, red fruits and dark chocolate.
  • The Kanonkop Estate is a Cape icon whose red wines have been recognised as perhaps South Africa's very best for over 20 years. Owners Johann and Paul Krige, with winemaker Abrie Beeslaar, are pushing for even better quality with each new vintage. The Simonsberg ward to the north of Stellenbosch, with its perfect microclimate, has the highest concentration of top-quality wine producers to be found anywhere in the Cape. Hand harvested old vine fruit is fermented in open topped concrete vats before transferring to French oak barrels, tailor made with thinner than usual staves. This simple, timeless approach requires great grapes to achieve such a spectacular result. Decanter WWA 2008 - Gold & Trophy.
