Fire at the dentist's, but tasty
Smells like a bin fire inside a dentist surgery. That smell of disinfectant that you only get in a medical setting is so weird! However, it is great whisky. The peated smokiness is dominant, but there are lots of other things in there. That medicinal thing is there, but it's sweet. The contrast of the sweetness vs the bitterness you would expect from the smoky smell makes it really interesting. I was told that Laphroaig is "challenging", and I was actually nervous to try it after spending over £40 on it. If I were to recommend it, I'd choose people that like to eat complex food. People that love Thai food, or Szechuan peppercorns. If you never venture far from your taste comfort zone, Laphroaig will probably be a shock.
Excellent whisky for the peat-heads!
This is a beautiful whisky but a very acquired taste! This is a very heavily peated whisky - imagine bonfire mixed with TCP and damp leaves. If you’ve never had a big peaty whisky like Laphroaig before, I would recommend starting with something lighter like Highland Park or Talisker. For me this Laphroaig is beautiful. The flavour is rich and delicious, with some sweetness and a little saltiness (as you’d expect from a coastal distillery). The whisky is lovely and smooth (much better than Laphroaig Select) and the finish is lingering and bonfire smoky. If you liked this and find yourself wanting more, I highly recommend Ardbeg, or for the hardcore peat-heads, Octomore.
Laphroaig makes others seem insipid
One of my favourites - makes others seem insipid. But then I like smoky peaty whisky, though I do know it's not to everyone's taste, and it's especially good value when it has got £10 off!!!
A lovely peaty dram.
An acquired taste. One of the best around if your palate appreciates a hit of peat with smoky, medicinal and earthy flavours. If the taste and smell of TCP and iodine isn’t for you then you’d probably be best avoiding this. If you like your Islay peat monsters then you can’t go wrong with this. It’s one of the best and particularly great value when on clubcard promotion. Enjoy neat or add just a drop of water to open up the flavours.

Review from LAPHROAIG
My favourite whisky. Don't buy this if you're looking for a Scottish version of bourbon, or if you want your whisky to taste like every other whisky. Do buy this if you want something rich, powerful, interesting and involving. It's peated, so earthy and smokey; but not too thick so still a good drinking whisky. Stands its ground against other, more famous and expensive, Islay malts. I'm looking at you, Love

A delicious whisky for smoky lovers
Review from LAPHROAIG
This whisky was sweet and smoky and left a lovely aftertaste. It was citrusy on the nose and mellow in the mouth.
Smooth
Review from LAPHROAIG
As a whiskey drinker already, I have come across this brand before. The age and casking made it smooth and enjoyable
Harsh whisky
Review from LAPHROAIG
Too harsh and rough for me.
Awful vile taste

This is the most horrible whisky I have ever tasted, definitely not my type of drink. The flavour tastes of burnt wood with a sickly sweet after taste. Burnt a lot too. Although the bottle does look really fancy and the description at the back makes it sound good, it is complete opposite. Don't know how anyone would find this pleasurable to drink. I would not buy it for sure.
