Not the best chianti

1 stars

Have tried the first bottle out of the six and very disappointed as not much taste. Will let the other 5 sit for a while before re-trying

Home is best

2 stars

Having visited Italy several times over many years I've always clung to a belief that the nicest Italian wines are kept in Italy. Having purchased and drunk Simply Chianti I have not been persuaded to change my opinion.

Quality for money

5 stars

For the price this was a most enjoyable wine for dinners and for a lunch time drink. Really good value.

Just as good in the winter

4 stars

Whilst Chianti is superb with bbq'd foods in the summer this chianti is just as good with spicy chicken wings or porks chops done in the oven in the winter .

A good buy if you can put up with its variability

3 stars

I bought seven dozen cases of Simply Chianti for the holidays. They were an inferior version of this usually excellent wine. Five bottles were spoiled and replaced, but I struggled through with enjoying all the rest and had to taste them all first before pouring. I checked out the usual highish quality of the wine by tasting a bottle I'd ordered for a friend in a different part of London, and a bottle I bought in Tesco Covent Garden. These were considerably better wines. The Simply Chianti is a good buy if you can put up with its variability, probably due to bad storing either in Italy or the UK. When it's good, it's as good as it is in Italy.

3 stars

I bought having read others' reviews. Have drunk two bottles, shared with friends, and am disappointed. There is an edge (a sharpness) that should not be there.

Nice drinkable wine

4 stars

Very tasty, good to drink along with nibbles, not just as an accompaniment to a meal. Marred by use of an obsolete cork stopper, which some times needs the muscle power of Hercules to extract, and precludes putting the cap back to keep the bottle for another day.

a simple wine and good value

4 stars

I like Chianti and am very happy at the bottom end which this wine is priced at. At £4.49 it represents very good value so long as you like light easy drinking chianti style wines

Good pizza wine

4 stars

We have homemade pizza every Friday and this is one of our modestly priced favourites for drinking with it. Good basic chianti.
