About us

We're Lights4fun, the light people. A family business, we are here to bring you lighting, decorations and expert advice for your home, garden and all your special occasions. Based in the beautiful spa town of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, we love what we do and have a passion for fun and unique things. You'll find our quality high and prices sensible across the range. From battery fairy lights to outdoor string lights, we've got lots of colours and styles of pretty lights you'll find hard to resist! We reckon lighting should light up our lives* as well as our living spaces. It should last too and that's why you get a 12 month guarantee on every purchase from us. So if we had a motto, it would be great quality, great value, great fun.

It all started back in 2003 when Tim and his wife Jo began their own kitchen table business selling festive lighting. Tim started his quest because he was fed up with poor quality lights from local garden centres and stores, and particularly fed up of numb fingers and wasted time spent in the not-so-glorious British winter changing bulbs and mending wiring. Tim’s conversations brought a dawning awareness that there was a huge demand for better quality Christmas lighting...you might call it his 'light bulb moment'... In 2005, after months upon months of market research, product development and a search for overseas suppliers who valued quality and service as much as he did, Lights4fun was formed. Since 2005 Lights4fun has flourished. We've delivered over a million parcels to our wonderful customers, moved offices three times (soon to be four!), brought on a team of talented locals and honed our brand identity and service ethics. Today, it’s one of the biggest independent lighting specialists in Europe. One thing’s remained the same: Lights4fun is still a family thing.

We're a family in our HQ and love coming to work. Today we have a team of 30 friendly staff (and two office flat-coat retrievers Mille and Lulu) who are all committed to the idea of simple, service-focused online shopping. We've grown a lot over the years, but our quest to seek out innovative and quality lights and decorations while providing incomparable customer service remains the force behind everything we do.

Delivery rates and timescales

Click & Collect FREE on all Tesco direct orders Order by 3pm* (Monday-Friday) and collect in store next day
Express delivery £5.95 Order by 3pm (Monday-Friday) for delivery next day
Standard delivery (Small Items) £3.00 Order by 3pm (Monday-Friday) for delivery within 2-5 days
Standard delivery (Large Items) £3 Order by 3pm (Monday-Friday) for delivery within 7 days

Please be aware that charges and timings will vary for delivery to Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Isles of Scilly, Orkney, Shetland and other Scottish islands with deliveries taking up to 8 days for outlying areas. The actual delivery cost and timings will be displayed during checkout.

For orders placed with our standard delivery service Yodel, you will receive your order within 2 working days. For orders placed with our express delivery service DPD, they will be delivered the next working day.

Delivery locations and exceptions

All of mainland UK is available for next day delivery whilst all non-mainland address deliveries can be completed within 2 -3 days.

Requirements to sign for delivery

A signature is required upon delivery for all of our delivery services.

Missed delivery

If you miss your Standard delivery, you will receive a calling card from Yodel and your parcel will be held for 7 working days. You will be able to arrange a new delivery if you respond within these 7 working days, otherwise your parcel will be returned to us and our customer service team will contact you.

With our Express delivery service, DPD will leave a calling card and your order will go back out for delivery on the next working day. After 2 delivery attempts your parcel will be returned to us and our customer service team will contact you.

Returns Policy

Changed your mind?

That’s no problem. All of our Tesco Partners offer the same Tesco direct policy as a minimum, the full details of which can be found here Returns Policy page.

Charges for returns

If you change your mind and wish to return your item you will need to pay for the cost of return postage. Returns postage normally costs between £5 and £10 but will depend on the size of your parcel.

Returns guidelines

Please let us have any tabs, labels and accessories, and please package it all securely. If you’re returning an item because you’ve changed your mind, there may be a deduction from your refund if it has been damaged, opened more than necessary to check it’s working, or used more than reasonably expected.

Is your purchase faulty or damaged?

We do our best to make sure everything works perfectly, but if it doesn’t, please contact us.  Within the first 30 days we will issue a refund or replacement item to you.  Outside of the first 30 days we will be able to advise on the options to repair, replace or refund your item.
