Enter the epic, ever-changing adventures of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for PS3, forming online parties to embark on quests with a multitude of players from across the globe.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn takes place in the Eorzea continent, found on the fictional world of Hydaelyn. The Mothercrystal, a focal point of the video game’s storyline, is a sentient crystal that, according to Ancient lore, sprang life to The Twelve Hydaelyn guardian deities. Eorzea’s history is one that began with civilisation and prosperity during the Astral Eras, inevitably turning to destruction and despair during the Umbral Eras – causing the guardian deities to vanish. The Garlean Empire is a main enemy force in the game, which live up the north side of Eorzea.
The commander of the Garlean Empire is driven by sheer madness as he plots to send the moon, crashing down upon the realm. A powerful magus channelled the last of his strength to summon Eorzea’s guardian deities, enraging them to fight back. They wait at the ready, unscathed by the flames of destruction until now. The time has come and those heroes are yours to control.
Defend Eorzea using your heroic characters; they need to become fighting fit once more to defeat the Garlean Empire and their commander. Your character needs to gain experience points (EXP) by completing quests, exploring the instanced dungeons, participating in Full Time Active Events (FATE) and slaying monsters in the Hunting Log. The weapons that you equip define your hero; players can change the class of their guardian deities by swapping their arsenal. Choose to be a Disciple of War, a Master of Physical Combat, a Disciple of Magic or a Practitioner of Magical Arts. Upon reaching maximum Level 50, your character can upgrade and seek new weapons, equipment and items found in raids, primal battles and elite mark hunts.
Fight enemies using a combination of physical and magical attacks, claiming your foe by using offensive actions. Upon the defeat of a player or party, the EXP and their items are bestowed to the victor. EXP will now be awarded to players in correlation to their contribution in the fight. During an attack, managing your enmity is crucial to achieving success, for enemies will target those with high levels. Offensive actions will increase your character’s enmity whilst special abilities can reduce it.
Clans can operate up to 8 players, sorted by The Duty Finder, which automatically sorts players into parties with specific roles. To recruit your own members, The Party Finder is a bulletin to find the skills you require to make the ultimate squad. Enter your new team as a tank, supporter, damager, healers or a tank. Those who excel in their role receive a Limit Break special ability.
