Whether it is made at home, eaten in a restaurant or delivered to your door, curry in all its variations is now Britain’s most popular meal. Although beer has been the traditional choice to drink with curry, wine is good too, especially for those who find that beer with curry is too filling a combination.
It’s the sauce and spicing that counts When choosing a wine with curry it’s best to think first about the type of sauce and spicing you’re eating rather than the main ingredient. How hot are your dishes? Do they include cream, yoghurt or fruit? As a general rule, wines need to be strong flavoured to stand up to Indian food. As we often choose a number of dishes with a variety of flavours, it is best to look for a wine that works well across a range of curries.
