Ripe melon and peach on the nose, with creamy fruit flavours and a soft dry finish.

This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 2 years
Jamie Goode - S Magazine, Sunday Express 24/03/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Jamie Goode said: "Combining grapes grown in Gisborne, Marlborough, Hawkes Bay and Waipara, this is a rounded, white with peach and pear fruit and hints of honey and melon."
Villa Maria was founded in 1961 and is today regarded as one of New Zealand's leading winemakers. This family owned business has the accolade of making the most award winning wines in New Zealand.
Alastair Maling MW
The fruit consists of parcels grown in Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and a small portion from Marlborough. This inter-regional blend produces a wine that has the full spectrum of Chardonnay flavours.

Lovely pale golden colour Aroma - Fairly tight restrained nose, a little peach and pears and what kinda smelt like vanilla custard but very hard to distinguish anything else. Taste - Still not bursting with flavour but it did have rich tropical fruit, pineapples and peaches with a little spice, like some dusted the fruit with a thin coating of pepper. Hint of Creamy butter. This was what I would describe as soft elegance, great mouth feel not an over the top Chardonnay still fairly much fruit driven but retaining a touch of creaminess. All Villa Maria wines are quality and this is no exception.

For New Zealand this is a good Chardonnay, but then all Villa Maria wines I have tasted are good, especially the Sauvignon Blanc, it's a case of buying it when the price is right.

A lovely, fruity chardonnay. Fantastic as a sociable drink or great with food

As usual can't fault Villa Maria. Incredible consistency. My only caveat and this is not a reflection on the quality of the wine which is top-notch, is the style. It is a powerful wine, loads of flavour and is much more "full-on" compared to the French equivalents which are drier with less flavour and more minerally. Personally, I like both styles

I don't normally think that NZ Chardonnay is as good as Australian but this is an exception, fabulous wine for the money.

If it's white wine, then it's got to be from New Zealand and it doesn't get much better than Villa Maria! My sister, who visits NZ regularly, tells me that it's cheaper to buy it in the UK than NZ!

I first saw this wine on offer in local Tesco store and as I enjoy Chardonnay wine particularly from Australia and New Zealand, I decided to give this a try. I was not disappointed, in fact I was very impressed as it has a smooth creamy vanilla flavour along with fruity soft flavours of melon and peach as described. It has a golden straw colour and when chilled is, in my opinion up there with the best in it's price range. Highly recommended !
