Domaine Laroche epitomises Chablis; This wine, from the excellent 2008 vintage, is made from grapes grown exclusively in the prestigious, ‘Premier Cru’ vineyards of Les Fourchaumes; Green apple and lemon flavours combine with hints of honey and butter and the underlying flintiness characteristic of the very best wines of the region - Stunning with seafood, this would also work surprisingly well with hard cheese

History
Domaine Laroche epitomises Chablis, with impeccable quality and a remarkable 100 hectares of vineyards, including 30 ha of Premier and 6 ha of Grand Crus. Founded in 1850, there is still a dynamism which permeates everything they do. Michel Laroche merged with another family-owned producer, Jeanjean, in 2009 and he remains actively involved in the business, along with his wife Gwenael. As part of their aim to retain purity and minerality in the finished wine, Laroche was the first Burgundian producer to move to screwcaps in 2002.

Chablis is a beautiful town in northern Burgundy. The location, climate and chalky soils of the region combine to produce ideal conditions for growing the top quality Chardonnay grapes that make up Chablis. Wines made under the "premier cru" title are from vineyards identified as producing wines of higher quality, in this case from the vineyards of Les Fourchaumes; The highest classification of Chablis is Chablis Grand Cru.
