Syrah from the Rhône is sourced from vines that grow in 11 vineyards near the town of Tain l’Hermitage-This creates layers of flavour including overtones of violets and black olives alongside blackberry and redcurrant fruit.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 3 years
Andrew Neather - Evening Standard 05/04/2012
Of the 2008 vintage, Andrew Neather said: “The northern Rhone’s syrahs are the inevitable point of comparison for many of the syrahs now emerging from cooler climate parts of the New World. This is a classic peppery, brambly Crozes from the ever-reliable Tain ‘Hermitage co-op: a good effort in a difficult vintage.”
Founded in 1933, Cave de Tain are one of the most respected and well-run co-operatives in the Rhône . Their objective is to produce authentic wines which bear the full character of their individual vineyard sites.
The vineyards of Crozes Hermitage are situated in the Northern Rhone valley. They are spread across 11 villages on the left bank of the Rhone.
