La Conseillante stood out clearly from its peers in the 2007 vintage with astonishing concentration, exotic richness and complexity - In what was widely agreed to be a difficult year, it is clearly one of the wines of the vintage; A blend of 85 percent Merlot and 15 percent Cabernet Franc this combines stunning floral aromas with notes of blackcurrant and spice, all perfectly balanced by a mineral character and lush tannins.

Situated on the right bank of the Gironde, just north-west of St. Emilion, Pomerol is the smallest of the Bordeaux regions. Unlike other appellations, it has no formal system of classification. Nonetheless, the wines command some of the highest of all prices – Indeed, Pomerol is home to the famous Chateau Petrus, one of the most expensive wines in the world. Merlot is the dominant grape here which, together with the vein of iron rich clay running through the soil, helps to give the wines a uniquely rich and smooth character. Although they often more approachable at an early age, they are equally capable of great longevity
