Regional info

Nederburg is from the district of Paarl, which is just north of Stellenbosch in the Coastal Region. The Coastal Region is South Africa’s heartland of the production of fine wines. The climate is Mediterranean in character and well suited for wine production of wine being with influences of almost constant sunshine and the cooling effect of the Benguela current. The unirrigated soils of Nederburg's vineyards in Paarl are of granite and sandstone, which provide excellent, well draining terrain.

This review is for the 2007 vintage

Deep, rich, velvety and luscious. I was able to visit the vineyard in 2010, but this is still a favourite and not just based on holiday memories. A real treat.
