Expert Opinion

In the press...

This is a bold Aussie chardonnay from the Hunter Valley showing plenty of spicy, tropical fruit. It’s full of flavour and texture but beautifully balanced.

Jamie Goode - S Mag 22/05/2010

The ABC (anything but chardonnay) club may give Aussie chardonnay a miss this Christmas, but with big festive food that would be a pity, as its big, bold, uttery fruit makes it one of the few whites that can cope with turkey. Tesco has long had a good run of Aussie whites and reds including this new Finest chardonnay from a prime western Victoria spot.

Jane MacQuitty - The Times 03/12/2011

Background

History

The Tesco Finest range of wines were produced in conjunction with Tesco sourcing grapes from regions best suited for that variety. The resulting wines are high quality expressions of each variety and offer outstanding value.

Regional info

The Del Rios vineyard in northern Victoria has an ideal climate for ripening Chardonnay grapes. The continental climate results in long sunny days giving a long slow ripening season coupled with noticeably cooler night to retain natural acidity. The vineyard name 'Del Rios' refers to many rivers flowing through this area, providing much need water to keep vines healthy.

A delicious Chardonnay that had my far more knowledgable friends raving about it. There are many layers of flavours giving a deep and complex experience and good length. Purchased on offer at £6, it is outstanding value for an excellent wine and we're just enjoying our second delivery - a dozen bottles, this time!

For the price it is surprisingly good, lots of body, taste and flavour a real Chardonnay. I have several case (why would you not) in the garage just in case it becomes unavailable.
