This delicious red shows lovely ripeness, depth and body which are complimented by black cherry flavours and hints of exotic spice.

Sangovese is a red wine grape variety origination in Italy whose name derives from sanguis Jovis, "the blood of Jove". It is most famous as the main component of the Chianti blend in Tuscany, but it has been grown in Emilia Romagna since ancient times.

All the vineyards are located at the Apennine's foothills and benefit from the Mediterranean climate. The soil is mainly clayish and the territory has a sub-continental climate with mild winter and hot summer.

Recommended in review. It might have all the tastes mentioned but they don't blend smoothly.

This is a lovely smooth and VERYdrinkable wine.........where one or two glasses is definitely not enough. It accompanies food really well or light enough to drink on its own, hence the "dangerous" description. Highly recommend this to all "red wine" lovers!

A poor man's Chianti. Easy drinking wine with delightful Italian flavours, warm and pleasurable.

This is one of our regulars and we invariably have several bottles in reserve. We finished a bottle last night following a silky Chateauneuf du Pape and it was well received by our guests.

The Chianti grape as grown in Romagna. Surprisingly only 12%ABV. I wouldn't have said it was anything but definitely on the fuller side of medium weight. It's juicy enough but the finish is very dry. It works better then when it’s with food and swishing down a tomato-sauced chunky pasta like rigatoni. Plenty of people seem to like it so it's just down to personal taste and price probably. Sangiovese on its own can be tricky on its home patch in Tuscany. Even when on offer I think I'd choose something different for the money that had some more defining character and maybe another grape in the mix.

This is a full bodied mellow and very drinkable wine, with no bitter after taste. Not sure whether it would be good value for money if full price.

Sangiovese is one of my two favourite grape varieties and although this is not a Chianti it is a good example of the delicious results this grape is capable of. At half price it is a bargain not to be missed.

I hadn't used to be that keen on Italian reds, but this has been a pleasant surprise. It is medium- bodied and accompanies most food well. It makes for a satisfying gobful and the after-taste is more than passing. If you can get it for under a fiver - even better.

A soft light wine that most would enjoy with red meats and cheese, also very consistant throughout the vintages. Would not hesitate to recommend
