You get what you pay for.

At £4.99 a bottle too much shouldn't be expected of a wine, particularly when this is full price. That's where the positivity ends I'm afraid as this could have any type of grape in it to be honest, it certainly doesn't taste like a Malbec. It has a sweet aftertaste and absolutely no body.. Ok to use in cooking I suppose, as long as the dish isn't anything special. I can only assume those that have given this 5* are basing their view on it being very cheap - if this had been more expensive I'd have given it 1*

Tescos own Simply Malbec - French Malbec?

By BigFatNick

French Malbec you say? Yes indeed. Malbec, as most of you will know, is an originally French descended grape, Grown in the hillside vineyards of Mendoza in Patagonian Argentina, where the grape and hence the wine gain it's unique and delicious flavours...or so I thought. To my humble palette, to my surprise this wine tasted remarkably similar to its South American counterparts. A truly splendid wine for just over a fiver.

The worst Malbec ever?

By Chem

This is the worst Malbec I have ever come across. There are none of the usual Malbec characteristics and an unpleasant after taste just makes things worse. There are far better Malbecs available for not much more.

The best French red in the Simply range

More than 'drinkable' this Malbec is lovely with food and by itself. Forget about the blackberries and all that waffle, its smooth and it tastes great. I shall be buying lots more, IF that is, Tesco Horwich decide to get some back in stock.

This is a well-rounded red wine which is ideal for every-day drinking at a very good price. Tesco's Simply range continues to impress me with its straightforward and very drinkable wines.

This wine is really good. Soft, smooth and full of flavour. Don't start too early in the day. You will want to finish the bottle.
