Terry Kirby - Independent on Sunday 30/09/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Terry Kirby said: "Made from Garnacha (or Grenache) vines up to 50 years old grown in the Campo de Borja in the Zaragoza province of northern Spain, this is a really concentrated, rich, smooth red, with loads of character and perfect for the first casseroles of the autumn, particularly if mushrooms are involved. Should get better in the bottle if you buy some to put aside for Christmas."
Jane MacQuitty - The Times 14/04/2012Of the 2011 vintage, Jane MacQuitty said: “Another rich, seductive, spice and fruit laden, 14 per cent alcohol, new wave Spanish red, this time made from old buy vine garnacha, or Grenache grapes, from Campo de Borja, south of Rioja.”

Plums and dark cherries but not overpowering on the nose. Plummy with cherries and liquorice on the palate. Delightful with Tomato/meaty/chorizo type dishes. Full bodied and heady. Will buy this again. .

nose, caramel, chocolate, Christmas pud, vanilla, bay leaf. great so far. taste, syrupy sweet to sour in 3 seconds some bark. aftertaste, more sourness, tannin, bitterness, antiseptic bark taste right at the end. I sampled this on opening, 1 hour later and with chilli. even the chilli could not disguise the bitterness and sourness. 2/10 for the nose only paid £5 and that was to much, never again

Been drinking this for quite a while. It is what it claims to be. Fruity and full of flavour. I stock up when it's on special offer. Quality and taste never vary. truly excellent value.

I bought a case of this as it was on offer and I had seen it recommended in the press. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Garnacha has a full-bodied yet distinctive taste, but we really enjoyed it. I would buy again.

Nothing really bad with this wine and nothing really special either. Although I didn't refuse a top up I wont be adding it to my list of favourites

This wine is soft and fruity, with lots of flavour. I would serve it at room temperature to go with pasta dishes and cheese. It is very good value and has plenty of body.

I love this wine, it is full of flavour and has some lovely hints of plum. It is not heavy and easy to drink. I like this wine with cheese, it will also go well with beef and rich meals. I'm normally a Merlot lover but this wine is now my favourite red.

This is a nice, easy drinking medium bodied wine that's great for everyday drinking as it's equally good on its own or with food. Really nice and soft in the mouth with gentle fruit flavours to savour, not quite dinner party quality but it's a good value wine that will be enjoyed by beginners and more experienced wine-drinkers alike. Good value at £5 a bottle but I try not to pay more than that for this as it's regularly on offer, I tend to buy this when there's nothing more interesting on special offer.

I was pleasantly surprised by this wine. 100% Garnacha is fairly new to me but I found it quite rich and fairly complex. Definitely worth trying another bottle.

Managed to double £15 of Tesco vouchers to £30 and had free prompt delivery of the above wine which was excellent. Cannot fault this service!

If this wine is decanted and served to any wine master, they for sure would be initially confused. This wine is showing particularly well as it certainly does not taste Spanish but rather California Baca (Mexico) or in fact anywhere from the Americas. I can strongly recommend it for a generous helping of 'plumtious' fruit, class and style. You might think that it is extremely expensive, but instead affords great value for money. Drink it now before it all goes!

Full of flavour with a full body. This can be enjoyed as an everyday drinking wine which goes well with food. It is 100% grenache (garnacha) but it doesn't need any other grape blended. This is not the best wine you will drink but for the price it is great value and I would recommend it. For some years now Tesco's "Old Vines Garnacha" has delivered consistent good value and this version is no exception.

For those who like a full bodied strong (14%) red, slight after taste cherry and plum flavour, ideal with any meat dish or tasty cheese.

This is a real discovery, from a slightly off radar part of Spain. The wine has depth and breadth of flavour you can savour for a considerable time after sipping. Great with roast meat and I like it with grilled rib eye steak.

I am slighlty reluctant to review this excellent full bodied red as I fear it might sell out and leave me short. It has become my favourite since I discovered it after a recommendation in my local newspaper.
