There's lots of currant and blackberry in this, with hints of sandalwood.
Full-bodied, with velvety tannins that turn chewy, but also a solid core of fruit underneath, with new wood.
Structured and serious.
This wine can be drunk now but will further improve if carefully stored for up to 5 years
The estate is made up of 17 hectares of superb Garonne gravel soil. For a long time it belonged to the Billa family, who sold it to AXA Millésimes in 1987. The vineyards were restructured shortly after the purchase, and drainage was improved in order to get the best possible effect of the soil on the wine. Today the wine of Pibran is carefully made by Jean-René Matignon and his team of Château Pichon-Longueville, in their state of-the-art winery.

Pauillac is situated in the heart of the Haut-Medoc and is arguably the most famous of the left bank appellations, not least because 3 of the 5 first growths are in the Pauillac appellation. The starting point for Pauillac's outstanding quality is the soil - largely free-draining gravel, which is ideal for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. Although the Chateaux have become increasingly adept at creating their own individual character, nonetheless there is still an identifiable Pauillac style: full, rich and characterized by the classic cassis and cedarwood aromas of oak-aged Cabernet Sauvignon

A full bodied robust wine . With flavours of blackberry, vanilla and mocha chocolate. It is a Winter wine and needs to be drunk in front of a warm log fire. First class. Well done Tesco!
