Background
History
The story behind one of Chile’s most famous wines began more than 120 years ago. Don Melchor, the founder of Concha y Toro, stored batches of his best wines in an underground cellar. When he noticed that bottles had been stolen, he spread a rumour amongst the locals that a devil lived in his cellar. Hence the name of Casillero del Diablo, the devil’s cellar. Since 2008, Diablo wines have received more than 80 awards from internationally recognised competitions, including 8 Gold medals and 18 Silver medals

This review is for the 2011 vintage
Having bought and enoyed a lot of thier Cabernet Sauvignon,I was a little disappointed in this as it was drier and more bitter than I expected.

this is an easy drinking wine went down well with our steak its not cheap to buy but well worth the money .

Soft and strong ,up there with the best of pure merlots.Best drunk with food.Value at £7.49 a bottle but great value when on offer.Will definitely buy again.

I purchased this wine with the Casillero delo Diablo Sauvignon Blanc which was also excellent. My husband is fond of merlot and partilcularly likes Chillean wines. I purchased two cases. This was perfect for his special birthday celebration dinner party. At a very reasonable price. Thankfully we have some left over to enjoy. Delievered as prearranged on time.

Well recommended. For a reasonably priced wine, this is fantastic. Smooth, rich with body. Fruity but but overpowering. Love it. Shiraz is also a favourite and Sauvignon Blanc is always on my purchase list. A quality vineyard at realistic prices...
This wine is amongst the top of my favorites.

Whilst trying out other wines from time to time, I always return to Casillero del Diablo as it never fails to satisfy. My actual total favorite is the Carmenere version but all in the range are excellent by any standards.
