This is agood robust, full-bodied wine, but it needs an hour to breath to bring the full depth of flaour and taste out to be enjoyed. I enjoyed this with tasy grilled red meat, and the two together were almost perfection. Woulod definite buy again!

This wine has an unpleasant tartness. Bought a case at a discount and wouldn't buy again at the discounted price; how this can be selling at a full price of £12 I'll never know. We have struggled through 3 of the bottles in the hope we may have got a couple of bad bottles, but it's still very disappointing and we end up cooking with what's left. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

A pleasant easy wine. Not too strong and with no nasty after taste, or headache. Well worth the money.

This is a very soft but full bodied red, equal to far more expensive Riojas. One of the classics in the Felix Solis stable. Drink with roast beef or game also good with casseroles.

This is a spectacular full-bodied wine. A great companion to roasted or grilled red meats. Requires breathing time so must be opened earlier and allowed to develop its full flavor.

I recall this being favourite wine in Spain in the late 80s, but now it does seem a little sharper and thinner, maybe it needs the sun! It does need to be decanted and allowed to breathe, but still does not have the character and depth I recall.

This is by far the worst wine I have tasted recently. The wine is not complex or elegant. It lacks any structure and I can only think the reviewer was tasting a different wine.

As an every day wine to serve with winter casseroles this wine meets the basic requirements. There are better Gran Reservas from Valdepenas at this price, and it has not aged enough for the tannins to have softened. The Tesco reviewer's marketing text perhaps confuses the rawness of the tannins with leather and spices. There are plenty of very good and attractively priced Spanish wines on the market at present, but as the fairytale princess found out, you sometimes have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince.

I have bought quite a few cases of this and it doesn't disappoint. As an everyday wine it ticks all the boxes yet is nice enough to serve at a dinner party.

A perfectly acceptable and drinkable wine, but without the sophistication of its Rioja cousins as expected for the price. Very reasonable value for money on the half price offer.

As it is one of our favourite wines we like to get it when it is on offer. And we purchase it quite often.

" value for money " means an acceptable quality for the money paid . For this wine , the boxes are all ticked .

Very smooth and palatable. Definitely one of the best wines I've tried. The bottle has a netting round it which gives it a sophisticated, expensive look and the taste lives up to that. Ordered a second case because I liked it so much. Price reasonable for such a good wine.

What good value this kind of Spanish red is. Rich, dark, full of curranty undertones, a long finish on the palate. A great wine with robust roast meats or cheese.

Looking for a full bodied red but unable to go to quality Rioja prices then try this outstanding Spanish red. A wine produced on a small Bodegas in the Valdepenas Region which produces an explosion of taste on the tongue. Best drunk within 12 months of buying.

Having drunk the standard Vina Albali tempranillo for many years we recently tried this one instead. This wine is rounder and more complex with the tannin associated with aged riojas. When this wine is on offer it is exceptional value.

My knowledge is very limited where wine is concerned. I purchased this wine for the first time and I have not been disappointed. It has a lovely dark colour, a nice bouquet, is very smooth and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. This wine goes well with cheese and red meat and can be enjoyed on its own. I would certainly recomment it.

This wine is smooth and interesting, with plenty of character. It has that extra depth of flavour, which means you can find more in every mouthful to enjoy for longer. I love it and always buy a load when it's on offer.

I have drunk this wine under this label for many years. The Grand reserva in naturaly superior to the ordinary Vina Albali, which is also quite drinkable, and I will continue to buy it at favourable prices. However I expected this purchase of the Gran Reserva 2006 to be better than the ordinary one, but in my opinion it was not. That is not to say it was a poor wine. On the contrary, but it was not up to the standards expected of a Gran Reserva.
