Due to the English rule in the 12th century, trade between Bordeaux and the British Isles flourished and Claret continues this tradition to this day.

Bought 2 cases of 'Simpy Claret' straight off, without hesitation, because I like claret and have had a long assoication with claret as a 'user'. In the past I have bought claret in many ways, even dispensed from petrol type pumps at the vineyards and at some French supermarkets. If 'Simply Claret' was packaged in 1.5 litre plastic bottle, with a flip top it would have prepared me for the tasting. It was not entirely what I had expected and not entirely to my taste. I found it a tad rough and I had to dig deep find the familar taste of French claret of any type. I'll struggle to get through the 2 cases. I currently use 'Simply Claret' for cooking, drink it with spicy bolognese, and if I have any left over at Christmas will use it for mulled wine. Not my best buy at Tesco.

I have paid a lot more money for a lot poorer wine. Not a great vintage wine or anything, but then it doesn't claim to be. But it does what it says on the bottle - Simply Claret. SImply decent for everyday.

There's no Date on the label, so I don't know what vintage this is. I gave a bottle to my daughter to try, and she described it as horrible. I had a taste, without food, and would describe it as light and sharp. Definitely not to my taste, and unfortunately I bought 6. Maybe it will taste better with red meat or cheese.

Just on the limit of an acceptable price for an everyday 'staple', this wine is, as designed, perfectly stable and with little or no harshness. If only all budget wine was like this.

If you're part of the flight to light trend, this Claret will appeal. Quite sharp, it works well with cold red meat either with salad or in pies. And don't be put off by the low price - this wine is very good value.

Cracking value French wine! Juicy and rich with ripe, lip smacking red-berry fruit. Would be a brilliant wine with most red meats, cheeses, pasta dishes. To be quite honest we are drinking this on it's own! Reminds me of Augustus Barnet Claret from the 70s, when I first got into wine!

This is a good smooth, non sweet red wine that can be drunk with any food.
