Susy Atkins - Stella (The Sunday Telegraph) 25/11/2012Of the 2010 vintage, Susy Atkins said: “Tesco’s French sparkler not only tastes good, with toasty, appley notes and a zesty, dry finish, but it has a stopper that allows you to reseal the bottle between servings. We reckon it keeps the fizz fresh for several days, if you can keep it that long.”
Jamie Goode - S Magazine, Sunday Express 07/04/2013Of the 2010 vintage, Jamie Goode said: “This is sealed with a novel closure called a Zork, which is re-usable if you don’t drink the whole bottle. This attractively packaged fizz if brimming with lively, citrus fruit flavours, with a subtle touch of herbiness.”
In 1531, the Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint-Hilaire were producing a still wine made with Mauzac, the local grape variety, and discovered the 2nd fermentation in bottle and the Blanquette de Limoux, the oldest sparkling wine in the world, was born. Mauzac, the main grape variety of Blanquette is specific to the Limoux area, locally it is known as “Blanquette”, due to a fine white down which forms on its leaves. In the local dialect Langue d’Oc Blanquette means white.

This has been a favourite sparkler in my family for decades. It is not as 'heady' as champagne but an ideal substitute. I used this in preference to champagne at weddings where cost or personal preference dictate. Summer is always a great excuse to imbibe the delights of sparkling wine and I will be using the remaining bottles of my case in the hopefully sunny days ahead. Well worth a try at the price.

This is an excellent sparkling wine, and all in our house agree that it is far superior to Champagne. I have been ordering this for several years now, and its becoming increasingly difficult to keep it for special occasions, as always tempted to quaff a glass or two at the least excuse!

Well balanced between fruit and acidity. Fine long lasting mousse. Good to drink at any time and made an excellent wine to celebrate a special birthday. Would use again for any celebration as a very good substitute for champagne and much closer to it than many sparkling wines at the same price.

Blanquette Di Limoux has always been our supermarket choice of wine when in France so to find we can buy it on line and have it dellivered to the door was fantastic. A great bubbly made using traditional champagne methods but produced outside the 'champagne' area. so the price is not hiked up by the word 'champagne'.

This lovely clean fresh sparkling wine is a treat and much better value than the bottom end of the Champagne market. In fact I would rather drink it than most Champagnes under 25 pounds...and it costs less than 8!!

This is a really nice sparkling wine ,i sometimes wonder why people spend so much on champagne when you can buy this for a fraction of the price and it is just as tasty if not more tasty, great for celebrations or just a nice weekend drink. I would recommend this to anyone over the age of 18 to relax with and chill.

having tasted this at a wedding in the summer, and listened as many guests complimented its flavour including many 'non fizzy' wine drinkers, we opted to serve it at the opening of our new showroom, sadly arrived a little late but a bonus to look forward to for ourselves at Christmas. It has sufficient flavour when chilled and non of the sharpness of some other sparkling wines, we would certainly order it again.

I had read a positive write up in one of the papers about this wine so decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. What lovely bubbles! Good flavour, no nasty after taste, just the right amount of fizz. Very enjoyable and tastes more expensive than it is. Loved the relockable cap too - not that it got much use. If I had any complaint it is that it probably went down a little too easily!

We have been buying Limoux for many years and were first introduced to it at the Vinyard. When we first opened this bottle we were very disappointed as it did not taste anything like a sparkling wine nor had we ever come across a plastic top on a sparkler. After 10 minutes in the gllass it is efffectively flat. I took a bottle to a friend, who has been in the trade and is knowledgeable, and asked for his opinion without prompting him. He shared my views completely. Having bought 12 bottles, as we like Limoux, we would very much like to return the remaining ten

Even at full price Blanquette is a great sparkling wine; we bought it in France where it's considered as a very good Champagne type wine. I got it from Tesco at a bargain price recently.

I was introduced to this wine in France some 50 years ago by French friends. Mine host used to take a long sword off the wall in his villa and with a sweeping arm movement strike the neck of the frozen bottle. It always worked, the top severed cleanly. I have drunk it, and regard it as being as good as any vintage champagne, ever since. I cannot recommend it too highly! .
