This medal winning wine is produced exclusively for Tesco at the award-winning Sacred Hill winery.
This fragrant red wine may surprise traditionalists as it’s actually the perfect accompaniment to meaty fish such as salmon and tuna-It’s smooth and supple, with red cherry flavours that are a good foil to the juicy taste of the fish-I like it even better when it’s slightly chilled – go on, give it a go!

This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 3 years
Helen McGinn - Femail, Daily Mail 21/02/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Helen McGinn said: "“This grape is responsible for some of the most expensive wines in the world. It also has diva-like tendencies, the grape doesn’t like to be too cold, too hot, or too productive. So in a difficult year, Pinot Noir can be a heartbreaker for producers. But when it works, it is just as capable of melting hearts. This one is silky smooth and cherry-kissed (apologies for sounding like a Mills and Boon).”"
Jane MacQuitty - The Times 27/04/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Jane MacQuitty said: “…scoop up Tesco’s splendid 2011 Finest Central Otago Pinot Noir, a plush, juicy, game and blackcurrant styled crimson mouthful.”
Susy Atkins - Stella, Sunday Telegraph 28/04/2013Of the 2011 vintage, Susy Atkins said: “Made by the Sacred Hill winery, this is a seductive pinot, smooth and ripe with rounded plum and black cherry. Good-value compared with many NZ pinot noirs, match with duck.”
Sacred Hill is a family owned winery based in the Hawkes Bay but with vineyards in Marlborough and Central Otago. This wine comes from two vineyard sites in the prime Bannockburn and Lowburn sub regions. Jenny Dobson is the red winemaker at Sacred Hill with specific responsibility for Pinot Noir. Jenny was previously head winemaker at the Gimblett Gravels winery Te Awa for 12 years. She started her winemaking at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy, then with Stephen Spurrier in Paris, then Ch Senejac in Bordeaux, and Western Australia before heading home to New Zealand. Crafted exclusively for Tesco.

Had this chilling for about 30 minutes or so in the fridge before opening. Nice vibrant darkish red colour in the glass with an overwhelming aroma of ripe cherries and plums. Taste - Silky smooth, juicy, cherries again, almost like liquidised cherry drops in a glass in which someone has sprinkled and stirred in some white pepper to give it that slightly warming kick. Hint of dark chocolate also giving it a ever so mildly sweetish flavour.

Thought that the Finest label and a £10+ price would ensure a decent wine, but this was thin and lacked any real fruity aroma or favour compared to a chilean Cono Sur Reserva or US pinot I've recently purchased.

Central Otago Pinot Noir can be fabulous but expensive. The 2010 was a good examaple of this wine @ about £10 The 2011 was obviously the remnants of Sacred Hills stock, Thin , weedy & with little aroma The Majestic Peaks 2010 @ £8.75 much better value

this is a lovely smooth tasting wine. It's quite a light bodied red wine so i really liked it. Would definitely buy again

Initially this seems rather mundane but has that knack of insinuating itself into your consciousness so that at the end of the bottle you want another there and then. A sensiblelish price for Otago PN a lot of which is simply over-rated and over -priced when compared to the recent european vintages so this is good value but don't expect a wine of Halliday quality.

I found this a very thin and feeble wine with very little flavour

Good value for a Pinot Noir, but lacks a bit of body and character.
