Aromas of black fruits and dark chocolate, liquorice and a touch of vanilla.
On the palate the flavours are robust and rich - intense berry fruit, dark chocolate and fine grained, velvety tannins.
Heysen Shiraz will continue to develop complexity if cellared correctly for up to 20 years from the vintage.
"The 2006 Shiraz Heysen is a saturated purple color with legs that ooze slowly down the glass. The nose offers aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, truffle, espresso, black cherry, and blueberry. On the palate it is hugely concentrated, flavorful, and impeccably balanced while maintaining a sense of elegance. This beautifully wrought wine will provide pleasure from 2013 to 2026." 96 Points Robert Parker The Wine Advocate
Jancis Robinson described the Barossa Valley as "Australia's quintessential wine region". Certainly, it's one of the country's oldest winegrowing areas, first cultivated in the 1840s. However, it was only in the 1980s the Barossa really found fame, especially for Shiraz. The climate is typically hot and dry and it's this in particular which helps to give its red wine their signature rich, full-bodied style
