Chablis, in northern France, has a relatively cool climate when it comes to ripening grapes.
Long, slow ripening means that flavours are pure and intense, just as in this classic Chablis.
Made from the Chardonnay grape, it is bright and crisp with green apple and citrus fruit.
This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 1 year
During the middle ages the Cistercian monks became a major influence in establishing the economic and commercial interest of viticulture for the region and from there spread south to the rest of the Burgundy region. The region became part of Burgundy in the 15th century when it was annexed by the Dukes of Burgundy.
Chablis, classic white wine of France, made from chardonnay grapes grown in strictly delimited areas surrounding the village of Chablis and along the Serein River in the district of Yonne in northern Burgundy.
