Expert Opinion

In the press...

"I'm toasting the first issue of Event with this brisk bubbly - it's crisp and bright with fresh fruit zing and bags of frothy, lemony fun. Cheers!"

Olly Smith - Event Magazine, Mail on Sunday 14/04/2013

Background

History

The region of Prosecco has been making light and elegant sparkling wines for many years. The dryer style that many people enjoy today was introduced onto the market in the 1960s.

Regional info

The Veneto is one of the largest wine producing regions of Italy. Being in the North of the country and lying quite close to the cooling influence of the Adriatic sea, it is climatically suited to producing delicate, fresh and elegant wine-styles.

Very refreshing with a nice fruity taste. Ideal for parties and barbecues.

Disappointing ...

... was so looking foward to trying this after the positive reviews I read, and yes, it tastes very fresh has a lovely apple flavour and when it first goes in the glass it's lovely, but, after a really short space of time it goes flat and lifeless, and consequently so does the taste. There's nothing more disappointing than flat fizz...

I am no wine boff, however, I know what I like; this Prosecco is so reasonably priced for a fine tasting wine. We had this wine instead of our usual champagne over the festive season. Everyone that has shared the wine has positively commented on it and has said they would like to buy it. I totally agree with the description; a light, refreshing and delightfully elegant Prosecco.

I bought this for 'easy drinking' over the christmas and New Year period. This was a very pleasant, a great fizz for for the occasion. I would recommend it and I would certainly purchase this again.

Wasn't sure what to expect for the price! It was lovely, light, delicate and exceeded my expectations. We brought this to try at Christmas so decided to try before the festive season and it surprised us both. We would definitely recommend this bubbly and look forward to drinking more.

I bought a case of this fizz for a party we were hosting for my parents anniversary - we used it for the toast adding pomegranate / peach juiced to make belinni's. A versatile bottle at a great price!

Prosecco wars!

I have thought for a while now that Prosecco was doing a chardonnay, or a pinot grigio and becoming the flavour of the month and hence pushing the price through the roof but recently we've had the opportunity to purchase a couple from Tesco and both, though slightly different, have been excellent. The bonus is they were both sold at half price and, with free delivery, looked like a great bargain. I have already reviewed the first one which was more 'biscuity' than this extra dry wine but the advantage of this one is that it is 'appley' and fresh. It holds it's 'fizz' to the bottom of the glass and therefore is a great party wine or aperitif. Just because it says "Simply" on the label doesn't mean there is anything simple about this lovely wine.

This is an enjoyable sparkling wine - not too sweet, not too dry. Good as an aperatif as well accompaniment to lunch or dinner. It is every bit as enjoyable as a Cava for a party in fact I would prefer it.
