Located in the heart of the Barossa Valley, St Hallett has been producing fine wines since it was established in 1944. All the fruit used in every bottle of St. Hallett is grown locally in the Barossa, often on some of the oldest vines in the region - the older the vine, the better the grapes tend to be. Not only was their chief winemaker, Stuart Blackwell, named "Barossa Winemaker of the Year" in 2003, but St. Hallett themselves also won Wine&Spirit magazine's prestigious "Winery of the Year" award in 2004
Jancis Robinson described the Barossa Valley as "Australia's quintessential wine region". Certainly, it's one of the country's oldest winegrowing areas, first cultivated in the 1840s. However, it was only in the 1980s the Barossa really found fame, especially for Shiraz. The climate is typically hot and dry and it's this in particular which helps to give its red wine their signature rich, full-bodied style
