Expert Opinion

In the press...

Of the 2011 vintage, Jane MacQuitty said: "It is always hard to pick just one red from the Casillero range but at this price, this simple, hearty, forest-fruits-licked, 13.5 per cent shiraz gets my vote."

Jane MacQuitty - The Times 23/03/2013

Background

History

The story behind one of Chile’s most famous wines began more than 120 years ago. Don Melchor, founder of Concha y Toro, stored batches of his best wines in an underground cellar. When he noticed that bottles had been stolen, he spread a rumour amongst the locals that a devil lived in his cellar. Hence the name of Casillero del Diablo, the devil’s cellar. Since 2008, Diablo wines have received more than 80 awards from internationally recognised competitions, including 8 Gold medals and 18 Silver medals.

We have all an allotted span. Wine lovers don't want to waste a day not drinking wine. This Casillero Shiraz is good everyday drinking. That is what I do. All the Casillero reds are wonderful. Cheers!

I have found all the Casillero range of excellent quality. The Shiraz is my favourite red as I like full-bodied reds. The wines are getting a bit expensive at their normal prices, but ,when on offer,I don't think you can beat them for quality for the price.

we love this wine. it is our favourite wine and has been for the last four years, when we were introduced to it by a family member. I can't praise it enough and it's just a shame that it's not on offer more often It's fruity and full bodied and an absolute pleasure to drink!

I buy a lot from this brand and this is really a great price for a deep dark and warming red. Make sure it's the right temp.before pouring and let it linger in the glass for a few minutes then drink! I'm off to buy another case!

I have been buying this wine for many years and always like what I have purchased. Wine tasting is always subjective and personal no matter what paid critics may say. I like this wine and recommend it. My adult children also appreciate the quality and taste of this wine.

With this wine on offer its great value and an excellent day to day drinking wine. Has a reasonable amount of depth and has the spice of a Shiraz. Bought many bottles and not regretting it
