2010 was a great vintage for Châteauneuf-du-Pape, small in size but high in quality. This stunning example is a classic blend of southern Rhône grapes including Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, handpicked to ensure the fruit is preserved. The result is a glass full of seductive bramble-fruit aromas with a lovely spiciness to it – perfect served whilst fireside.
When the Papacy was established in the 14th Century, Chateauneuf du Pape was selected to be the pope's summer residence. The 7 successive Popes encouraged wine production. The strict way in which wine is produced has remained throughout history.
This famous wine region is located on the left side of the Rhône, between Orange and Avignon. Its terraced vineyards are covered with round stones typical of the area.
